Value Maritime, the Dutch cleantech company, has signed a commercial agreement with Istanbul-based Bulutlu Marine to grant it the exclusive rights to market Value Maritime’s emissions control technologies in Türkiye. These technologies include the Filtree SOx scrubber and the modular Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS), as well as associated engineering services.
So far in 2025, Value Maritime has completed the installation of its Filtree system and OCCS units on vessels including Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ LR1 tanker, Nexus Victoria, and Berge Bulk’s Ultramax carrier, Berge Yotei. The FWN Sun, a general cargo vessel operated by ForestWave, was recently fitted with a 3MW scrubber following a similar installation on its sister ship, FWN Sea. Both vessels are scheduled to receive carbon capture systems.
Michela Bassignani, Commercial Manager at Value Maritime, commented on the agreement, signed at Nor-Shipping 2025: ‘With SECA regulations in effect, there is growing demand for scrubber systems among vessels operating in the Mediterranean. In parallel, onboard carbon capture systems are gaining traction due to evolving regulations and increased recognition as a key solution for reducing global emissions. We believe Bulutlu Marine is the right partner to support our growth in this region.’
Value Maritime is part of the Value Group, which also includes sister company Value Carbon. While Value Maritime is focused on reducing onboard emissions, Value Carbon manages the offtake (both sea- and land-based), processing, transportation, reuse, and storage of CO2. The Value Group aims to target the entire CCS value chain using this integrated approach.
Further development is underway through the Maritime Efficient & Easy Carbon Capture (ME2CC) consortium, which in January 2025 secured public funding as part of the Maritime Masterplan 2024. The project aims to demonstrate a compact CCS unit aboard the LNG-fuelled ConRo vessel, the Samskip Kvitbjorn.
ME2CC is headed by Value Maritime and includes Samskip Holdings, B2B Marine, Fusie Engineers, Devoteq, Brusche Process Technology, Heatmaster, and Yard Energy Group. The consortium partners are collaborating to meet EU emissions-reduction requirements.
Bulutlu Marine is a technical consultancy that has represented marine manufacturers for over ten years. The agreement with Value Maritime will enable Bulutlu to capitalise on the rising demand that has been generated by compliance with regional sulphur and CO2 emissions regulations.
